A Primer on the BCS Rankings
Due to the fact that the first BCS rankings of the year come out this weekend, Chris Dufresne of the L.A. Times gives an interesting look at some of the strangeness in the BCS rankings over the years.
Of interest to this conference? LSU and Florida have a combined four BCS titles but have spent a combined two weeks atop the rankings in the regular season (LSU's two in 2007). Alabama also is tied with Nebraska for most weeks at No. 1 (five) without a title.

A new system is needed
but for now the BCS hasnt been TERRIBLE, unless you are a USC fan. The teams that have won the BCS title havent been that controversial. The main argument to me is…how can we eleminate the BCS and come up with a better system. A playoff system most would say, but even then people have found problems with that. Honestly I like the fact that every game counts.
If they change it to playoffs, then a Great team could match up against a weaker team and easily make it into the title game, compared to another team may have to battle it out against a even matched team and end up losing, but probly would be able to beat both of the other teams.
