Earlier in the week, Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores scored from a three-star outside linebacker out of Van Nuys, California. That being Tyree Thompson, an attendee of Los Angeles Valley College. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker announced his decision on Twitter.

The JUCO talent from the west coast was originally committed to the North Texas Mean Green, according to his page on 247Sports. But, he decommitted on January 6, and promptly made the announcement the next day that he was bound for Nashville.
Also, according to his 247 page, he has scheduled an official visit for Friday (see, we aren’t totally behind).
There are no rankings listed on 247Sports Composite, but 247Sports’ standalone has him ranked 107th in the nation. He also ranks ninth among linebackers and 16th among all JUCO talents in California.
The addition of Thompson now gives Derek Mason 19 commits for the class of 2018. 16 of which have been signed to this point, with three hard commits left (Thompson, Miles Jones and Rayshad Williams).
