The SEC announced its Week 12 Men’s Basketball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon.
We had Co-Players of the Week, as Arkansas Razorbacks guard Daryl Macon and Auburn Tigers guard Mustapha Heron shared the honor this time around. In Macon’s two games last week against the Georgia Bulldogs and Oklahoma State Cowboys, he averaged 23.5 points while shooting 51.8 percent (14-27 FG) from the field.
Heron, meanwhile, showed out against the Missouri Tigers and LSU Tigers. The Waterbury, Connecticut native averaged 17.5 points while shooting 59.1 percent (13-22 FG) from the field. Heron also averaged 10.0 rebounds during the week and 2.0 assists as well.
Meanwhile, Kentucky Wildcats freshman Kevin Knox won the Freshman of the Week award. The Wildcats went 2-0 and Knox’s contributions had lots to do with it. He scored 34 points in UK’s win over the West Virginia Mountaineers. Adding the 19 points he chipped in against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Knox averaged 26.5 points last week. He shot 69.5 percent (16-23 FG) from the field, a stellar mark to say the least. Knox also added an average of 6.5 rebounds to his line this week.
