We now know where Jalen Hurts will play college football again.
The now former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback and former SEC Offensive Player of the Year will be suiting up in crimson and cream... just in Norman, Oklahoma now. Hurts announced on Wednesday in an article on The Players’ Tribune that he was joining the Oklahoma Sooners.
It’s pretty easy to see why Oklahoma was such a premier destination for Hurts. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray have excelled under Lincoln Riley to the point where both men won Heisman Trophies the last two seasons. Although Hurts considered the Miami (FL) Hurricanes and the Maryland Terrapins and likely many others, OU is the place for him now and it will be fascinating to see what comes next.
Obviously, the ripple effect in Tusacloosa is that now Tua Tagovailoa is certifiably the guy at ‘Bama next year (not that it was ever really in question anyway). He will be the one to open up the 2019 season under center without much “controversy” or “discussion” with Mac Jones backing him up, among others.
Best of luck to Hurts with the Sooners.
