SEC play has been tough so far for the Gamecocks, as South Carolina dropped both conference tilts it has played so far after starting the season 2-0.

Luke Doty returned from a foot injury to be the starting quarterback in both of the two losses after Zeb Noland had to step in earlier in the season. Doty hasn’t looked entirely comfortable in either game, so this game against a lesser opponent could help Doty find his groove going forward.

Another Gamecock who is looking to find a groove after returning from injury is running back Kevin Harris. The SEC’s leading rusher last season, Harris has just 102 yards on 35 carries in three games this season. If South Carolina could open up the running game, it would drastically help the passing game get going.

South Carolina will have to be mindful of Troy quarterback Taylor Powell who completed 35 of 49 passes last week for 311 yards and two touchdowns.
