Who knew Georgia-LSU would have NCAA Tournament implications?

NCAA Basketball: Alabama at Louisiana State Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight’s Games

Time (ET) Game TV/Streaming
7:00 PM Georgia at LSU ESPNU/WatchESPN
7:00 PM Vanderbilt at Mississippi State SEC Network/WatchESPN
9:00 PM Ole Miss at Texas A&M SEC Network/WatchESPN
9:00 PM Kentucky at South Carolina ESPN/WatchESPN

Two months ago, you’d have been surprised to find out that the Georgia Bulldogs and LSU Tigers are among Joe Lunardi’s First Four Out this week, and yet here we are. So obviously, their matchup at 7:00 PM ET (on ESPNU) has important bubble implications.

At 9:00 PM ET, the Texas A&M Aggies look to stop a five-game slide as they host the Ole Miss Rebels on the SEC Network. The Aggies have dropped all the way from a 2-seed in Lunardi’s projection to an 8-seed. As for the Rebels, they’re not really in the NCAA Tournament conversation right now, but a win would improve them to 4-2 in the SEC.

Also at 9, the Kentucky Wildcats visit the South Carolina Gamecocks on ESPN. Kentucky is 14-3 and in the Top 25, and yet they’re 4-1 in the SEC in spite of only outscoring opponents by one point per game. South Carolina has fallen off quite a bit from their Final Four run last year but are still 2-3 in the SEC.

And unless you’re a fan of the Vanderbilt Commodores or the Mississippi State Bulldogs (which, okay, I am), you probably aren’t terribly interested in their tilt at 7 PM on the SEC Network. Mississippi State is 13-4 on the season but isn’t really doing much to threaten an NCAA Tournament bid.
