College World Series Scores: Ole Miss Rebels 2, Texas Tech Red Raiders 1

Ole Miss claimed their first College World Series win in 45 years Tuesday in dramatic fashion. But they're going to need a few more victories to stay in contention for the school's first baseball national title.

All that John Gatlin's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth did for the Rebels, after all, was prevent them from being eliminated. Instead, it's Texas Tech that went home after their own dramatic "rally" to tie things at 1-1 in the top of the inning. Ole Miss is still three must-win games away from the national championship series, with the next one coming Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET, when the Rebels will face the loser of tonight's Virginia-TCU game.

To win three in a row, though, Ole Miss likely needs its bats to wake up. There's been no problem with the pitching in Omaha; the Rebels' staff has allowed 15 hits and three runs combined over the team's first two College World Series games. But at the same time, Ole Miss has come up with just six hits and three runs of its own. Finally getting a win of any sort is a welcome change after four and a half decades without one, but that's not the goal that Ole Miss had when it arrived in Omaha.
