TAMU to SEC in a holding pattern this morning. Invite contingent on the Big 12 schools promising not to sue SEC. Baylor still holding out.
Tony Barnhart on the Texas A&M; situation
Baylor's lawsuit threats are apparently all that's holding up the official announcement of the Texas A&M; move to the SEC. The reason is likely because they don't have some kind of standing invitation to another power conference if the Big 12 goes away.
Texas, TTU, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State can go to the Pac-12. Missouri is reportedly high on the SEC's list of candidates for the 14th school. The Kansas schools almost certainly have standing Big East invites, and Iowa State had one back in summer of 2010 (so it might have one now). Baylor doesn't have anywhere to go but the MW or CUSA, so it's going to do whatever it can to keep the Big 12 around.
