The South Carolina Gamecocks picked up a commitment on Thursday.

The Gamecocks added to their 2020 recruiting class with a verbal from tight end Eric Shaw. Shaw, a native of Notauslga, Alabama and an attendee of Reeltown HS, announced his commitment to SC on AHSAA Radio, choosing the Gamecocks over the Tennessee Volunteers in the process.

Shaw is a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, per 247Sports’ standalone rankings. Per their Composite Rankings, he’s a three-star player. There is a discrepancy of 66 in the national rankings, as he’s ranked 301st on the 247 standalone rankings and 367th on the composite rankings. He ranks 14th among all Alabama recruits at the moment in what is a pretty loaded class at this juncture.

South Carolina’s class is steadily rising at the moment, especially since Shaw is not the only commitment for them on Thursday. Tomka Hemingway also committed to the Gamecocks, which we’ll have a post about in just a few short moments.

They now rank 18th in the nation and 7th in the SEC in the 247Sports recruiting rankings for 2020.
