Three teams from the SEC are in this week’s AP Top 25.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked the highest among the three squads in the mix. The Tide rank ninth in the nation, their highest mark in 14 years. At 13-3, Alabama has been rolling for sure. They’ve won nine in a row, have won 10 of 11 and 12 of their last 14 games. They’ve more than earned this ranking, and with them sitting at 10th in KenPom, they certainly stand as one of the best teams in America.
Next we have the Missouri Tigers. Mizzou, armed with their 10-2 record, sit 12th in the natio. They’re high risers, having sat 19th last week. But wins over South Carolina and Tennessee were able to allow for them to make a big leap towards the Top 10. They’ve been hanging around as one of the best squads in the country, and with wins over Illinois, Oregon and Tennessee, they have one of the better resumes in America right now.
Lastly, we have the Tennessee Volunteers. Dinged up by aforementioned Mizzou as well as the Florida Gators, Tennessee tumbled down to 18th after being sixth a week ago. An 0-2 week will certainly do that to you, but they do have a chance of making moves. They’ve got Mississippi State this week and then a big matchup with the 15th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday scheduled. Rick Barnes’ squad will absolutely be tested this week, and it’ll be interesting to see where they go.
Florida received 37 votes in the AP Top 25 this week, seating them 32nd. They were the only other SEC squad to pick up votes this week.
