Yankees Are Surging In World Series Odds

Major League Baseball is one month in and the current favorite is the Los Angeles Dodgers and their odds have slightly increased a little bit to be even more of a favorite to win the World Series.

Looking at all of the baseball odds checker it has the Mets, Blue Jays and Yankees in the top four, and it is the Yankees who have shot up the list and are now earning the fourth best odds.

The Yankees are undoubtedly the best team in baseball. After taking care of division rival Blue Jays this week, the Bronx Bombers extended their winning streak to 10 and now own the second-best run differential in MLB at +42. Anthony Rizzo leads the majors with nine home runs while Aaron Judge has 8. Their combined 17 long balls are more five different teams have managed and as many as both the Cubs and Cardinals have hit.

Altogether, the New York Yankees have gone deep a league best 32 times. The rotation looks stable as Gerrit Cole has rebounded from some rough early outings and the bullpen has been borderline on being unthittable thanks to Michael King and Clay Holmes bridging the gap to closer Aroldis Chapman. Don't treat the Yanks as second class team.

As for the favorite Dodgers, they are just doing everything right.

The Dodgers haven't been winning at a legendary pace to start the season, but they do own MLB's best run differential (+47) just a month into the season. The big offseason acquisition of getting Freddie Freeman has led the way on offense and even though Mookie Betts is hitting just .231, he has a solid .348 on-base percentage and has scored a league-leading 21 runs. Then there is Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler have formed an intimidating two headed monster at the top of the rotation, combining to go 6-1 through nine starts, and neither has an ERA above 2.35. The Dodgers were the betting favorites for virtually the entire 2021 season and look like they may be primed to be so again.
