As noted above, both of these teams had their games cancelled last week due to COVID, as Tennessee was set to play Texas A&M, and Auburn was set to square off with Mississippi State. How will the unexpected week off impact these teams? Auburn hasn’t played since Halloween, as their scheduled bye week followed their 48-11 win over LSU
Bo Nix looked great in that win over LSU, going 18-24 for 300 yards and three touchdowns, adding 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. It may very well be because they were facing LSU, but this is the Nix that Auburn has been hoping would show up all year. Will two straight weeks off after his season-best performance help the sophomore QB or hinder him?
Tennessee has also had a quarterback issue this year. Jarrett Guarantano’s senior season has proven to be very unspectacular, as Guarantano has just six touchdowns in six games. The Vols are still sticking with him as the starter this week, but if things start going south, they will likely look to make a substitution.
