Auburn vs. Alabama, Iron Bowl 2020: Time, TV listings, odds

It’s The Iron Bowl! It sells itself at this point doesn’t it?

The next chapter in the epic rivalry between Alabama and Auburn will be written Saturday. The Tide and the Tigers are set to clash on CBS, as the annual Iron Bowl tussle takes center stage. But at this point, we’re pretty much used to that aren’t we?

‘Bama comes into the weekend ranked at the top of the nation. That shouldn’t come to much a surprise either. With a ridiculous offense at their disposal, Mac Jones, Najee Harris and DeVonta Smith have been setting the world on fire at some point or another. While the defense isn’t up to their usual caliber, they have been able to do just enough to keep them unbeaten through this point of the season.

Meanwhile, Auburn has gotten by with a bit of good bounces and skillful play this season. They are 5-2 on the year, with a solid defensive effort. The offense hasn’t been what some would’ve expected it to be, but they have done just enough to get on by too. Four of their wins have come at home, and their 1-2 record away from Auburn may loom a little large going into Tuscaloosa this weekend.

It’s difficult to envision any trip ups for Alabama’s offense. They’ll be facing one of the better defenses in the SEC this season. This much is true. But with that being said, there is just so much skill and weaponry available to Jones. Whether it’s Smith or John Metchie III at receiver, or Harris in the backfield, ‘Bama can beat you in so many ways. It is why they’ve been so good this season, so taming this beast will be a tough task for Auburn.

The Tigers will have to get their best out of Bo Nix in this game. Nix hasn’t taken the leaps necessary for him to establish himself after a solid freshman campaign. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Year has to play his best game yet. To be fair, while Alabama has given up 135 points this season, they have shown their weaknesses. You don’t have to look too far back to see that either. It would be an opportune time for Nix and the Auburn offense to play at their peak. And I mean, we’ve seen crazier things in the Iron Bowl yeah?
