South Carolina came out and gave Bama their best punch, but even a pair of 9-year-old socks couldn’t help recreate that 2010 magic. They were aggressive on 4th down, even having a fake punt called back by a questionable holding call. Ryan Hilinski proved he can hang with the SEC’s best, throwing for 324 yards. Rico Dowdle got over the century mark and overall South Carolina played a pretty good game.
But against Alabama you need to have a great game and catch some breaks which didn’t quite happen. The passing attack from Tua and friends took over. Najee Harris had two receiving touchdowns and both Henry Ruggs III and DeVonta Smith went over 100 yards. Alabama struggled running the ball, but it didn’t really matter because the passing attack was so prolific.
Now it’s time for South Carolina to regroup and come out throwing against a dangerous Missouri team on the road. Alabama gets a tune up with Southern Miss.
