Week 6 was the smallest slate of games thus far in 2016. Between scheduled bye weeks (Missouri, Ole Miss) and the LSU-Florida game canceled because of Hurricane Matthew, there were just five games on the SEC docket.
But while there was a smaller pool to choose from, there was still a number of strong performances across the conference. Tennessee-Texas A&M was especially notable, and maybe the game of the year so far (as long as the Vols are involved, there's always that chance, apparently.) So let's get to our All-SEC Week 6 team, and be sure to check out our year-to-date All-SEC team at the bottom of the post.
As always, read through the premise of this column here if you're unfamiliar.
Quarterback
Name | Team | Comp. | Att. | Yds. | Comp% | TD | INT | Yds./Att. | Rush | Rush Yds. | Yds./ Rush | Rush TD | Total Yds. | Total TD
1st Team | Trevor Knight | Texas A&M | 17 | 34 | 239 | 50.0% | 2 | 2 | 7.0 | 14 | 119 | 8.5 | 3 | 358 | 5 |
2nd Team | Jalen Hurts | Alabama | 13 | 17 | 253 | 76.4% | 2 | 1 | 14.9 | 8 | 20 | 2.5 | 2 | 273 | 4 |
Knight just keeps making plays every week, especially with his legs. He hasn't been perfect -- his completion rate is not great -- but he's a big reason with the Aggies are 6-0 as they head to Bama in a couple weeks.
Running Back
Name | Team | Att. | Yds. | Yds. / Att. | TD | Tgt. | Catch | Rec. Yds. | Rec. TD | Yds./ Catch | Yds./ Tgt. | Total Yds. | Total TD | Yds./ Touch
1st Team | Alvin Kamara | Tennessee | 18 | 127 | 7.1 | 2 | 9 | 8 | 161 | 1 | 20.1 | 17.9 | 288 | 3 | 11.1 |
2nd Team | Trayveon Williams | Texas A&M | 28 | 217 | 7.8 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 217 | 1 | 7.5 |
Are we sure Jalen Hurd is the best running back in Knoxville? Kamara was incredible on Saturday, and Williams was nearly as good.
Wide Receiver
Name | Team | Tgt. | Catch | Catch% | Yds. | TD | Yds./ Catch | Yds./ Tgt. | Rush Att. | Rush Yds. | Yds./ Att. | Rush TD | Yds./ Scrim. | TD/ Scrim. | Yds./ Touch
1st Team | Jared Cornelius | Arkansas | 10 | 5 | 50.0% | 146 | 0 | 29.2 | 14.6 | 1 | 8 | 8.0 | 0 | 154 | 0 | 15.0 |

2nd Team | Christian Kirk | Texas A&M | 10 | 7 | 70.0% | 80 | 1 | 11.4 | 8.0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 80 | 1 | 11.4 |
Josh Reynolds | Texas A&M | 9 | 5 | 55.6% | 89 | 1 | 17.8 | 9.9 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 89 | 0 | 17.8 |
Cornelius is quietly having a very nice year, and 146 yards against Bama is a great way to get noticed. Stewart, meanwhile, has arguably been the best receiver on the Tide's roster -- even better than Calvin Ridley.
Tight End
Name | Team | Tgt. | Catch | Catch% | Yds. | TD | Yds. / Catch | Yds. / Tgt.
First Team | Hayden Hurst | South Carolina | 8 | 6 | 75.0% | 86 | 0 | 14.3 | 10.8 |
Second Team | Jeremy Sprinkle | Arkansas | 6 | 3 | 50.0% | 37 | 1 | 12.3 | 6.2 |
With Evan Engram on bye, this was a golden opportunity for SEC tight ends to get their name on this list. Both of these guys had nice games, and are having pretty good years overall.
Defensive Line
Name | Team | Tackles | TFL | Sack | PD | INT | FF | TD | Havoc
First Team | Carl Lawson | Auburn | 2.5 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Derek Barnett | Tennessee | 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2
Denzil Ware | Kentucky | 5.5 | 2.5 | 1.5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2.5
Jarrett Johnson | Texas A&M | 5 | 1.5 | 0.5 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2.5
Second Team | Myles Garrett | Texas A&M | 2.5 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3.0 |
Marlon Davidson | Auburn | 3.5 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2
Darius English | South Carolina | 4.5 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1
Daeshon Hall | Texas A&M | 1 | 0.5 | 0.5 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1.5 |
Despite there only being five games this past weekend, the defensive line portion of this is not suffering a bit. The Texas A&M defensive ends, in particular, had a great game.
Linebacker
Name | Team | Tackles | TFL | Sack | PD | INT | FF | TD | Havoc
First Team | Richie Brown | Mississippi State | 10.5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Shaun Dion Hamilton | Alabama | 6.5 | 1.5 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2.5
Colton Jumper | Tennessee | 8.5 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2
Second Team | Roquan Smith | Georgia | 9 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Ryan Anderson | Alabama | 6.5 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2
Bryson Allen-Williams | South Carolina | 9 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
A solid, if not spectacular, week for SEC linebackers.
Cornerback
Name | Team | Tackles | TFL | Sack | PD | INT | FF | TD | Havoc
First Team | Minkah Fitzpatrick | Alabama | 4.5 | 0 | 0 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 5 |
Malkom Parrish | Georgia | 3 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 4
Second Team | Malik Foreman | Tennessee | 3 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Javaris Davis | Auburn | 4.5 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
Fitzpatrick's game against Arkansas might have been the best single individual performance we've seen in the SEC this season.
Down in College Station, Foreman had an excellent game and made one of the plays of the year when he forced a late fumble against A&M running back Trayveon Williams. It didn't lead to a victory for the Vols, but it preserved the possibility for a while.
Safety
Name | Team | Tackles | TFL | Sack | PD | INT | FF | TD | Havoc
First Team | Justin Evans | Texas A&M | 9 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 4 |
Armani Watts | Texas A&M | 7.5 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 3
Second Team | Ryan White | Vanderbilt | 7 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Todd Kelly, Jr. | Tennessee | 5.5 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
Are Texas A&M's safeties the best positional group in the SEC?
Kicker
Name | Team | Made FG | Att. FG | Long | Made XP | Att. XP | Total Pts.
First Team | Austin MacGinnis | Kentucky | 2 | 2 | 46 | 2 | 2 | 8 |
Second Team | Aaron Medley | Tennessee | 1 | 1 | 34 | 5 | 5 | 8 |
Did you know Kentucky's kicker and punter are named MacGinnis and McKinniss? I would watch that buddy cop movie.
Punter
Name | Team | Punt Att. | Yds. | Yds. / Att. | Long
First Team | J.K. Scott | Alabama | 4 | 206 | 51.5 | 63 |
Second Team | Toby Baker | Arkansas | 4 | 211 | 52.8 | 57 |
These are the Week 6 punters.
