"I will be meeting before the end of the month with the Mayor of Jacksonville to discuss the contract relative to the Florida-Georgia game,'' Machen said. "We remain very positive about that relationship, although we have some problems with the way things are done over there in terms of crowd control outside the stadium and things of that nature. But we will be meeting with him and hopefully we will be able to sign an extension before the end of the summer... "They [UGA officials] are talking about it and I think they are leaning the same way we are,'' Machen said. "They don’t seem to be as interested in the safety and security issues as we are, they’ve got other problems with it (the site). But I think we’re headed toward a meeting of the minds''

UF President Bernie Machen on the Cocktail Party UF, UGA, and city of Jacksonville officials are preparing to meet to extend the contract to keep the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in its current location, despite Mark Richt's protests. In a week where Georgia just picked up a commitment from a prospect in Jacksonville, it makes sense to hear that UGA is leaning towards keeping it in place regardless of Richt's complaints.
