The Auburn Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies are each looking up at the Alabama Crimson Tide in the West. But with the Aggies owning a win over ‘Bama, and the Tigers yet to play their hated rivals, Saturday’s showdown between these two teams looms large. Auburn and A&M have had varying degrees of success this season. A&M is down at 3-2 in the SEC, while Auburn checks in at 3-1. Auburn can’t afford to fall behind too far, but this one is as much a must-win game for the Aggies as anything.

Auburn comes into this game as a small underdog. The Tigers will head to Kyle Field, where the Aggies have only lost once this season. The Aggies are also averaging north of 36 points per game at home this season. They’ve been a tough team to corral at home, as no team besides Mississippi State — of all teams — has been able to hold them to under 30 points at home this year. They’ve also averaged 6.58 yards per play at home, proving to be really hard to take down.
Lately, Auburn’s defense hasn’t fared particularly well. They’ve given up over 200 rushing yards in two of their last three games, and have allowed over 225 passing yards in each of the last three games too. The rushing yards might be a problem against the likes of Isaiah Spiller, who hasn’t been shy about wreaking havoc this year when he’s on.
Auburn has taken great strides through the air over the last month. They haven’t had a day under 272 passing yards and Bo Nix has only two games under 200 passing yards. Nix has taken enough strides this season where he has been less enigmatic at times and downright good in others. He’s fared well enough on the road and I do actually think that he’s going to keep them in the game for a bit on Saturday.
I honestly think this game could go either way. This should be a really fun matchup that could potentially create some chaos if Auburn wins this and wins out the rest of the way. A&M is in a must-win situation because a loss completely craters their chance of making it to Atlanta. It’s a thin one as it is, but it at least is in the air to be caught right now. A win on Saturday would keep that hope alive.
