The Kentucky Wildcats finally tasted defeat last week. The Wildcats were thrashed by the Georgia Bulldogs between the hedges and fell to 6-1 in the process. They still sit second in the SEC East at a very comfortable margin. And on Saturday night, they take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are 2-2 in SEC play and 4-3 overall on the year so far. Last we saw them, they whomped the Vanderbilt Commodores 45-6 a week ago in Nashville.

This one is pretty close to a pick’em, and it’s understandable. Both teams are pretty evenly matched up on both ends. What State of course lacks in the ground game, they make up for in the passing game. Kentucky has posted solid enough numbers through the air, and much of their success comes on the ground. Each defense has seen its fair share of strengths this year, as well.
This will be one of the tougher tests that State faces offensively. Kentucky is allowing under 200 passing yards per game this year. Obviously, the offense in Starkville is catered on working through the air. So what will come of this? I’d probably say that whoever wins in that spectrum is going to win the game.
I can see a window for each team to win here. That being said, I think Kentucky pulls off the ‘small’ upset here. The Wildcats defense is a strength, and I think they will hold up even against State’s offense. That being said, I’ve been wrong in these previews all year it seems. So who knows?
