The news delivered on Monday was not surprising, but is officially official nonetheless. Tua Tagovailoa is leaving the Alabama Crimson Tide to go pursue a career in the NFL. Tagovailoa announced at a press conference that he is forgoing his senior season to enter the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.
Tagovailoa had a sensational college career that wrapped up in unfortunate circumstances. The star quarterback for the Crimson Tide was injured so badly against the Mississippi State Bulldogs that the rest of his season was snuffed out entirely. That injury was the latest in a saddening string of injuries that had dated back to last season.
Nevertheless, Tua will head into the NFL as a very touted and prized prospect. And for good reason. He may not be picked as high as originally projected, but assuming that he makes a full recovery, he is likely to make an NFL team very happy if and when he suits up for them this coming fall.
Best of luck to Tua on his progress in his health and at the next level!
