Shortly after the Tennessee Volunteers picked up a commit from Bryson Eason, his teammate followed down the same path. Fellow inside linebacker Martavius French announced his commitment to the Vols on Tuesday night, giving them a tandem of linebackers from Whitehaven High School out in Memphis.

Like Eason, Martavius French is a four-star player in the class of 2020. Standing 6-foot-2, and weighing 240 lbs., French ranks 332nd in the nation, higher than Eason’s standing of 348th. Thus, he ranks higher at his position (15th vs. 17th) and in the state of Tennessee as well (10th vs. 11th). While neither are in the Top 300 in 2020, they are still standouts who should only see further improvement down the line.

Martavius is the third player in the Top 10 to commit to Tennessee, joining center Cooper Mays of Knoxville Catholic and Keshawn Lawrence of Ensworth in Nashville. His commitment, at the time, gave the Vols seven players from the state of Tennessee in their 2020 recruiting class.
