The Tennessee Volunteers made a big splash in the 2021 recruiting cycle.
On Friday, Kennedy Chandler announced his commitment to the Vols. The Sunrise Chrsitian point guard (Wichita, KS) made the announcement on his Twitter account:
Chandler is the #1 point guard in the Class of 2021 and sits 11th overall in the class, just on the outside of the Top 10. Unsurprisingly, he also finds himself at the top of the list for Kansas recruits, heading a group that also includes his teammate, five-star wing and Baylor Bears commit Kendall Brown.
This is a big boon for Tennessee, as Chandler is one of the most talented recruits to ever commit to the program. The only players, since 247Sports began tracking recruits, who rate higher than Chandler are Tobias Harris and Scotty Hopson. Not terrible company, eh?
With just Chandler in tow, Tennessee’s recruiting class ranks 33rd in the nation. But of course, there is plenty of time for them to ascend. And of course, it shouldn’t be a surprise if and when that happens.
