Seven teams from the SEC are featured in this year’s preseason AP Top 25.

The Alabama Crimson Tide lead the way in the SEC pack, sitting 3rd to start the season. Such a ranking shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as the Tide figure to be the favorites once again in the conference in what will be a, well, a fascinating season if it ever even happens. They are joined in the Top 5 by the Georgia Bulldogs, who figure to be the prohibitive favorite in the SEC East. The Dawgs are 4th to begin the year, and are joined in the Tp 5 by the top-ranked Clemson Tigers, the Ohio State Buckeyes — who of course aren’t playing this season — and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Joining ‘Bama and UGA in the Top 10 are the LSU Tigers and the Florida Gators. LSU, of course, won the CFB Playoff Championship a season ago and are again littered with plenty of talent this coming year. Florida figures to be a strong challenger to Georgia in the SEC East, led of course by quarterback Kyle Trask and a strong offensive unit.

Outside the Top 10 are the Auburn Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies. There’s lots of potential across the board for both squads, with a burgeoning offense for Auburn and a couple of loaded recruiting classes for the Aggies that are beginning to really take shape. And finally, the Tennessee Volunteers round out the SEC representation and the Top 25, as they sit 25th in the preseason poll.
