The Auburn Tigers saw their season come to a disappointing end on Friday with a 35-19 loss.
Quarterback Bo Nix was serviceable, completing 25 of 42 passes for 292 yards and a touchdown, but Auburn couldn’t seem to get any rushing attack going, recording just 61 yards on 26 rushing attempts for 2.6 yards per carry
The Tigers were in the awkward position of being coached by interim head coach Kevin Steele in the game. Steele’s interim tag will not lead to the full-time job, as Auburn already hired Boise State’s Bryan Harsin last month. Harsin watched the game from a suite.
Auburn fans didn’t seem to care much either way about the result of this game, knowing the team was missing a handful of starters and a new coach is already on the horizon, but you always prefer to close your season with a win instead of a loss.
Northwestern quarterback Peyton Ramsey went 24-35 with 291 yards and three touchdowns. Ramsey was named Citrus Bowl MVP for his efforts.
