2020 NBA Draft: Aaron Nesmith drafted by Boston Celtics

The Vandy sharpshooter has been taken.

Perhaps the best shooter in the 2020 NBA Draft is off the board, as the Boston Celtics have selected Vanderbilt forward Aaron Nesmith with the 14th pick.

Nesmith is the second straight Vanderbilt player taken in the first round. He played just 14 games in the 2019-20 season before a stress fracture in his foot in early January ended his season. Nesmith hit 60 threes in the 14 games, accumulating a .522 three-point shooting percentage over that time. Had he been able to play the complete season on that pace, Nesmith’s three-point shooting percentage would have been the best in the nation by far.

It’s very easy to see why Nesmith is a lottery pick in today’s NBA, which focuses on the three-point shot more than ever before. If he can stay healthy, Nesmith will be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
