Damien Harris is heading to another powerhouse.
The Alabama Crimson Tide running back was selected by the New England Patriots on Friday night as part of the 2019 NFL Draft. Harris was taken in the 3rd round with the 87th overall pick, and will join Tom Brady and the Pats offense this coming fall.
Harris had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2016 and 2017, the latter season of which saw him score 11 touchdowns, a career high for the accomplished tailback. Harris had nine touchdowns in his senior season with 876 yards, splitting time with the likes of first rounder Josh Jacobs. He was certainly a very accomplished player and should provide an instant impact with the Pats.
Harris is obviously yet another in a long line of Alabama tailbacks to head to the NFL. He joins the aforementioned Jacobs, Bo Scarbrough, Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake and T.J. Yeldon among others to be drafted.
Congrats to Damien Harris and best of luck with New England!
