The fourth Alabama Crimson Tide player is now off the board.
Irv Smith Jr. is the latest from Tuscaloosa to be taken in the 2019 NFL Draft. Smith has been selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 50th pick.
Smith is an extremely talented tight end, who’s got quite the pedigree of course. He played just two years and 24 games with the Tide, but still showed plenty of promise on tape to warrant a high draft pick. He scored seven touchdowns in the 2018 season and averaged 16.1 yards per reception. He can stretch a field and be a welcomed addition to the Minnesota offense, as Kirk Cousins should have fun throwing to him very quickly.
Smith joins Quinnen Williams, Jonah Williams and Josh Jacobs as Tide players who’ve been taken in this year’s NFL Draft. As always, you should probably expect more players from ‘Bama to go in the Draft. He’s the first TE from ‘Bama to go since O.J. Howard two years ago.
Best of luck to Irv Smith Jr. with the Vikings!
