The SEC named its Week 1 Players of the Week on Tuesday.

To little surprise, Missouri Tigers quarterback Drew Lock was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Lock shattered Mizzou passing records in the Tigers’ 72-43 win over the Missouri State Bears. Meanwhile, linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton shined bright for the Alabama Crimson Tide. In all, a terrific effort for the ‘Bama LB, who may be on his way to a terrific season.

Elsewhere, Arkansas Razorbacks running back Chase Hayden picked up Freshman of the Week honors. Hayden scored his first career TD in the Hogs’ win over the Florida A&M Rattlers on Thursday. He ran for 120 yards in total in the victory, putting on a dynamite performance in his first career game.

South Carolina Gamecocks offensive weapon Deebo Samuel took home SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Samuel returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown in the Gamecocks’ win over the N.C. State Wolfpack in Charlotte. He also starred in the receiving game too, picking up two touchdown receptions. In all, he put up 185 all-purpose yards in the Gamecocks’ victory.

Linemen Garrett Brumfield of the LSU Tigers and Denzil Ware of the Kentucky Wildcats were named Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Week.
