The SEC named its Week 2 Players of the Week on Monday.

Linebacker Lorenzo Carter stood out for the Georgia Bulldogs. In the Dawgs’ victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Carter amounted seven tackles, a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery. Carter pounced on a strip sack by Davin Bellamy that helped lead to UGA’s win in South Bend. Suffice it to say, he had himself a night.

Elsewhere, sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Ole Miss’ gunslinger threw for 489 yards, an Ole Miss record, and racked up five touchdowns in the Rebels’ win over UT Martin. Patterson went 32-43 in the victory over the Skyhawks.

Meanwhile, South Carolina Gamecocks offensive weapon Deebo Samuel took home SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Again. Samuel picked up ANOTHER kick return touchdown in the Gamecocks’ win over the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, Missouri. Deebo ran for a 25-yard touchdown also and caught five passes with 45 yards receiving. In total, the Gamecocks star had 167 all-purpose yards in the win.

Tennessee Volunteers kick returner Ty Chandler is this week’s Freshman of the Week. Chandler scored his first career TD in the Vols’ win over the Indiana State Sycamores on Saturday. The return TD went 94 yards on the opening kickoff. Notably, per SECSports.com, he is the first true freshman to take a kick return back for a TD since 1999, when Leonard Scott ran one back against Georgia.

Linemen Matt Womack of the Alabama Crimson Tide and Jeffery Simmons of the Mississippi State. Bulldogs were named Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Week.
