2018 linebacker Damone Clark commits to LSU

It’s never too early to think of next year. The Tigers picked up a talented player from their homeland.

Class of 2018 linebacker Damone Clark (Baton Rouge, LA) decided to stay in state - and in town - as he committed to the LSU Tigers on Sunday evening.

The news was initially reported by Geaux247 reporter Shea Dixon who broke the story amidst a major recruiting weekend in Baton Rouge. The Tigers had hosted Clark among several other targets from future classes and they were able to land one of the big fishes.

Clark is a three-star linebacker and is the fourth player in LSU’s 2018 class. Currently, Clark attends Southern University Lab School right in town in Baton Rouge and is not the only player committed to LSU who attends that school. 2019 commit Kardell Thomas is another SU Lab School attendee so it’s easy to see and suggest that the LSU staff is trying to keep kids in state and in town as well.

Damone ranks seventh at his position and 14th in the state of Louisiana per 247Sports’ composite rankings. It’s far too early to put too much stock into it, but LSU’s 2018 class is currently ranked seventh in the country and second in the SEC behind the Texas A&M Aggies.
