After landing three-star athlete CJ Cotman earlier Thursday, Tennessee has just scored another one.
Wide receiver Jordan Murphy, a three-star recruit via 247Sports Composite Rankings, just committed to the Vols. The news first comes from Paul Fortenberry of VolQuest.com, UT’s official Rivals.com page.

Vols head coach Butch Jones would later comment on the manner after Murphy’s commitment was revealed.

Murphy hails from Hattiesburg, Mississippi and was pursued by several SEC schools like Alabama and LSU among others.
As mentioned, Murphy is the second commit of the day for Butch Jones after landing Cotman earlier on. Murphy joins Princeton Fant (LaVergne, TN) and Jacquez Jones (Clearwater, FL) as wide receivers in Tennessee’s 2017 class to this point.
As far as jockeying for position in the ranks of the nation and in conference, his commitment keeps them standing pat at fifth in the conference and 10th in the nation, which is where they were earlier in the day following Cotman’s commitment to the program.
Suffice it to say with the additions of Cotman and Murphy on Thursday, Butch Jones and Tennessee are continuing to lay the groundwork on what is likely to be a strong future in Knoxville as the Vols look to get back to prominence.
