Tennessee misses 2016 NCAA Softball Super Regionals

A bitter pill to swallow for the Vols whose season comes to an abrupt end.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

After making the Women's College World Series in 2015, Tennessee sought to make it back to OKC again.

Unfortunately, not everything goes as planned. Tennessee was eliminated by Arizona on Sunday evening to abruptly end their season despite a wildly successful campaign that ended with them hosting a regional round in the early stages of the 2016 NCAA Softball Tournament. The Vols took two losses to UofA this weekend which wound up being their downfall, both coming after tremendous offensive performances which makes this a bitter pill to swallow.

UT finishes the season with an impressive record of 43-16, this after finishing tied for third in the regular season with Auburn after going 41-14 in the regular season.
