South Carolina Softball misses 2016 NCAA Super Regionals

The road ended in Tallahassee for the Gamecocks.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

After losing twice to the Florida State Seminoles this weekend, the South Carolina Gamecocks failed to qualify for the 2016 NCAA Super Regionals despite spirited efforts throughout the course of the Tallahassee Regional.

The Gamecocks fell to FSU 4-0 on Saturday but put up a stronger fight on Sunday before ultimately losing 2-1 against the sixth-ranked 'Noles.

As a result, South Carolina finishes a very solid season with a record of 38-23. Their drought without a Women's College World Series appearance continues as they have not made it past the Super Regionals since 1997.
