Following Lane Kiffin’s departure to FAU, the Alabama offensive coordinator position was essentially up for grabs. And after a brief period of dormancy, it’s Steve Sarkisian who has emerged as the man for the job.
The move was announced on Friday evening per a release by the Crimson Tide.

There had been much discussion about who would replace Kiffin as Alabama’s offensive coordinator. Sarkisian of course had been among them along with Mike Locksley and Billy Napier. All three were in-house candidates, so it was certain that Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban was going to be promoting from within.
In addition to the role of OC, Sarkisian will be Alabama’s quarterbacks coach as well.
Sarkisian was brought in earlier this year as an offensive analyst for Alabama. He of course has had previous stops at both Washington and USC and with Saban’s tutelage, Sark is set to be under the command of perhaps the best coach in all of college football.
