ESPN released College Football Playoff picks for 26 of its analysts, and I went through them all to figure out who the collectively like the best from the SEC to make this year's semifinals.
Team | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Points | Total Votes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Auburn | 0 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 29 | 14 |
Alabama | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 21 | 7 |
LSU | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 4 |
Texas A&M | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 1 |
Georgia | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 1 |
Auburn got the most overall votes to make the final four, and though no one had the Tigers at No. 1, they still got the most overall value (first place is four points, second place is three, etc.). Desmond Howard was the one guy to pick A&M, while Danny Kanell picked his former offensive coordinator and Georgia.
Here are their subsequent picks for the title game and the championship.
Team | Finalist Votes | Champ Votes |
---|---|---|
Alabama | 6 | 3 |
Auburn | 7 | 2 |
LSU | 3 | 1 |
Similar to how at SEC Media Days Auburn got the most votes to win the West but Alabama got the most to win the conference, the Tigers got the most votes to make the playoff but Bama got the most to win the national championship. Lee Corso was the guy who picked LSU to win it all.
How much are predictions worth? Not even the pixels that display them. But, it's still worth a look to see where the most powerful media company in college football is coming from.
