Where Will the Eight SEC AP Preseason Top 25 Teams End Up?

The preseason AP Poll was released recently, and in it are eight of the SEC's 14 teams. The conference is no stranger to seeing this many teams make it into the Top 25 this early on, but what really matters is which teams claim a spot in the Top 25 come season's end.

That being said, let's take a look at which of these eight teams you can expect to maintain their spot among the nation's best, and which might fall outside the list by the end of this college football season.

Alabama (3)

The Alabama Crimson Tide are expected to be one of the country's dominant teams yet again this year. With what should be a very strong defense the Tide look to make it difficult for opposing teams to put up points. This alone should make sure that Alabama keeps a spot high inside the Top 25, but if they can answer a lingering question at the Quarterback spot then look for them to find their way back into the College Football Playoff.

End of the year prediction: 3

Auburn (6)

The Auburn Tigers find themselves facing the opposite issue of their in-state counterparts. Last year the Tigers had no trouble putting up points, and that should be the same story this year. However, Auburn struggled to keep teams from scoring. If the Tigers can put together a solid defense this season, then keeping a spot in the Top 10 shouldn't be an issue. If they find themselves getting in shootouts again then that may become a little tougher.

Georgia (9)

The Georgia Bulldogs are the heavy favorite to win the SEC East in 2015. Accomplishing a task like this would be enough to earn them a spot in the SEC Championship, and likely a spot inside the Top 15 at worst. However, the Bulldogs have their eyes on a National Championship this season, and I believe that they have what it takes to get there. Worst case scenario, the Bulldogs stumble a couple of times and stay inside the Top 15. Best case scenario, they win the SEC and make the College Football Playoff.

End of the year prediction: 7

LSU (14)

The LSU Tigers are looking to rebound after a somewhat disappointing season in 2014. Like most years, the Tigers will have plenty of talent to compete in the gauntlet that is the SEC West. If LSU can pick up some wins in key matchups this year, then look for them to stay firm in the Top 15, and maybe even move up to the Top 10. However, they could just as easily find themselves slipping a few places in the rankings if they repeat last season's outcome.

End of the year prediction: 15

Ole Miss (17)

The Ole Miss Rebels were a very dangerous team last year, and have the potential to be equally as dangerous again this season. The Rebels will need to find their answer at Quarterback, much like Alabama, but their defense should still be plenty strong enough to keep them in games. Ole Miss will definitely be a team that no one can sleep on, and have a schedule that gives them a chance to jump in the rankings, or fall back as well. Either way, expect the Rebels to maintain a spot inside the Top 25.

End of the year prediction: 17

Arkansas (18)

The Arkansas Razorbacks came close to winning a handful of very impressive games during the 2014 season, and this year's team should be even more competitive. However, the fact that they are getting national recognition means that they won't have the element of surprise anymore. I look for them to be a dangerous team, but I don't see them quite at the point where they will be competing for the SEC West just yet. Their rushing attack and defense will still give them plenty of chances at some big wins though.

End of the year prediction: 21

Missouri (24)

The Missouri Tigers have made the most out of their short time in the SEC to this point. They have won the SEC East twice already. This season they probably won't quite be at the level to compete with Georgia, but the Tigers should still give teams all they can handle. Being right inside the Top 25 seems like where Mizzou belongs at this point. They should be a competitive team, but I feel like they are the one SEC team inside the Top 25 that will slip right outside of by the end of the season.

End of the year prediction: NR

Tennessee (25)

The Tennessee Volunteers have one of the tougher schedules in the country, which gives them plenty of chances to vault up in the rankings by the end of the season. They are a team that I feel people are sleeping on. If the Vols can pull off a couple of upsets and win the games that they are favored in then look for them to take few steps forward this season. Even if they slip up against some of these tougher teams, the voters will likely give them the benefit of the doubt for playing such a tough schedule.

End of the year prediction: 18
