Mac Jones is shipping up to Foxborough.

The Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback was just selected 15th overall by the New England Patriots on Thursday night. Jones joins fellow ‘Bama draftees Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Surtain II, and as DeVonta Smith as first-round picks in this year’s NFL Draft. He’s the 23rd player from ‘Bama to have been picked in Round 1 since 2014, a list that may well grow further as the night progresses.

Jones had lots of Top 3, Top 10 hype around him going into the night. But alas, Jones is the fifth quarterback selected this evening. He follows Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, and Justin Fields as QBs selected in this year’s NFL Draft. He’ll no doubt go to a great system up in New England. Bill Belichick is as good as it gets, and he joins a pretty decent situation up there if you’re into that sort of thing.
