Tua Tagovailoa was the second quarterback taken off the board anyway. Tagovailoa was selected by the Miami Dolphins in Thursday’s first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, four picks after LSU Tigers star Joe Burrow was taken 1st overall.
Tagovailoa had a celebrated career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, posting astronomically good numbers in his two years as a starter. He was responsible for the Tide winning the 2018 College Football Playoff Championship, with his strike to Devonta Smith, an indelible moment in the program’s history.
Tagovailoa has some injury concerns of course. There was a reason why many believed there were red flags on him going into the Draft. But, Miami has chosen to go with his potential, which to be fair, is sky high. So, the Dolphins could make out well here if Tua becomes who many believe he can become.
