The stream of good news out of Columbia, South Carolina keeps flowing.
As they received a commitment from tight end Eric Shaw, the South Carolina Gamecocks received yet another addition to their 2020 recruiting class almost simultaneously. This one coming from Conway, South Carolina, as defensive tackle Tomka Hemingway has joined the fray. Hemingway made his announcement at Conway HS on Thursday afternoon, electing to go to the Gamecocks over the North Carolina Tar Heels, among others.

Hemingway’s commitment to SC helps to bolster the recruiting class for the Gamecocks. He’s among the best players in the state of South Carolina at this juncture. He currently ranks 4th in the state in the 2020 cycle. Five-star defensive end Jordan Burch, dual-threat QB and Gamecocks commit Luke Doty (Myrtle Beach) and fellow commit Alex Huntley are the only players ahead of Hemingway. Tyshawn Wannamaker, an offensive guard, ranks 5th among all SC players and is, also, a Gamecocks commit.
In fact, with Hemingway aboard, the Gamecocks now have five of the Top 10 recruits in South Carolina right now.
With Hemingway and Eric Shaw aboard, South Carolina now ranks 18th in the nation and 7th in the SEC in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
