Several SEC schools missed out on the commitment of a talented Class of 2020 defensive lineman. Myles Murphy elected to commit to the North Carolina Tar Heels on Monday. The four-star defensive lineman out of Greensboro, North Carolina chose the Tar Heels over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators and South Carolina Gamecocks, among others.

247’s Crystal Ball actually had South Carolina trending more than UNC, with the Gamecocks holding a 55%-45% lead going into Monday. Murphy however showed that sometimes, the Crystal Ball does lie, as he will not be heading to Columbia, but Chapel Hill instead.

Obviously, this is a big move for UNC and Mack Brown. For the other SEC programs who missed out on Murphy’s commitment, it will all be about trying to do an about face now and getting any of the remaining quality defensive linemen in the 2020 class. Some of those schools (looking at you, Alabama) shouldn’t really find too much difficulty doing so.
