A few thoughts here going into the day:
- Three SEC teams will be facing ranked teams on Friday. Mississippi State will begin a three-game series with 25th-ranked Oregon State in Starkville. Then later, 10th-ranked Florida will play the 7th-ranked Miami Hurricanes in the annual meeting between the two Sunshine State clubs. Then finally, at 8 p.m., Tennessee plays host to the 3rd-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders.
- Nine teams enter the weekend with unblemished records. Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M have all yet to be defeated this year. Will that continue after this weekend? Time shall certainly tell, as UF has a strong test, as do Mississippi State and Tennessee
- The only sub-.500 team in the conference at the moment is Kentucky. The Wildcats are 1-3 on the year, and hope to start erasing that from memory in their series against Appalachian State.
