The Kentucky Wildcats passed their first major test of the season last week against Missouri and now sit at 2-0 on the season. This game was seen as critical by the Big Blue Nation if Kentucky wants to make this a season to remember. The 35-28 win over the Tigers has set the table to make a run in the SEC East. But before they can think too hard about that, UK has to face the Chattanooga Mocs of the FCS’ Southern Conference in Week 3.

How to watch Chattanooga vs. Kentucky

Time: Noon

Watch Online: This game is only available via ESPN+, which you can sign up for HERE. It is not available on traditional television.

So far in 2021, the Mocs are 1-1 with a 20-30 loss to Austin Peay and a 20-0 win over North Alabama. UTC features a decent rushing attack led by sophomore Ailym Ford who was the SoCon Freshman of the Year in 2019 before only playing one game due to injury in 2020. Chattanooga will look to him to provide any type of spark on Saturday in Lexington.

Kentucky’s much-maligned offense has been balanced and successful through two games with averages of 299 yards passing and 243 yards rushing per game. In the Missouri game, UK reverted back to their punishing rushing attack to close up shop against the Tigers. Chris Rodriguez has 331 yards rushing on just 46 attempts so far this season and if everything continues to go well, he could certainly emerge as a Heisman candidate as the year wears on.

This week is unquestionably another tune-up game for the Wildcats. The main focus for the Cats will be cleaning things up. The 2-0 start is nice, but the -4 turnover margin is a bit concerning. For as good as he’s been running the ball, Chris Rodriguez has put the ball on the ground a few times already. This seems to be the only flaw in his game overall. Aside from a plus turnover day, Kentucky will look to remain healthy as well heading into the first road game of the season next week at South Carolina.

Prediction: Kentucky 49, Chattanooga 6
