After a fairly routine 60-10 win to open the season against the Akron Zips, the Auburn Tigers will likely see a similar result this week when they host the Alabama State Hornets.

Bo Nix got his junior season off to a strong start last week, completing his first 11 passes and finishing 20-22 on the evening with 275 yards and three touchdowns. Obviously the caliber of opponent needs to be accounted for, but Nix looked like he’s poised to take the next step in his development.

It’s tough to get a good read on Alabama State’s passing defense, as they saw just nine pass attempts last week against Miles, and allowed just 35 passing yards. Alabama State also allowed Miles’ Donte Edwards to rush for 107 yards on 20 attempts, which is bad news for the Hornets as Auburn’s Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter rushed for a combined 229 yards on 22 carries.

It’s really hard to try and come up with things Auburn needed to fix after a 50 point win, with another big win looming here. Obviously, next week against Penn State is a true test for the Tigers, but the hope is that playing back to back blowouts will have gotten Auburn ready and motivated to head into Happy Valley.
