Kentucky opens 2019 season against Toledo Saturday afternoon

Kentucky tries to move past the Benny Snell era, beginning with Toledo

NCAA Football: Missouri at Kentucky Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky has to move on without two of the most dynamic players in school history in Josh Allen and Benny Snell. They will begin their 2019 campaign with Toledo. Toledo is coming off a relative down season, going 7-6, but looks to compete again for the MAC. They are a scary team with a great backfield who finished 2nd in the MAC in points last year, and feature three preseason All-MAC second team players on offense in RB Bryant Koback, RB Shakif Seymour, and TE Reggie Gilliam.

Kentucky has a penchant for letting group of 5 schools hang around, even having to mount a comeback vs. Central Michigan last season. While I expect the defense to bend a little, but still hold up behind Kash Daniel, the offense will struggle and try to find their footing. Expect a close game until the 4th quarter when Kentucky eventually pulls away.
