Jachai Polite has become the latest in a long line of Florida Gators defensive linemen to be drafted. Polite was selected with the 68th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
Polite played three years at Florida, and his third season was his most productive by far. He had 11 sacks, 19.5 TFL and 45 total tackles with four passes defended and six forced fumbles. He registered 15 career sacks, 28.5 TFL and 78 total tackles in his three years with the Gators, showing that he certainly can put in great work when getting more reps (played all 13 games in 2018).
Polite is the fourth Gator defensive lineman to be drafted in the last four years, joining Taven Bryan, Caleb Brantley and Jonathan Bullard in that regard, and plenty more over the last several years, of course.
Congrats to Jachai Polite, who joins Quinnen Williams of the Alabama Crimson Tide in this draft class. Best of luck!
