Fresh off their loss to the LSU Tigers, the Alabama Crimson Tide are looking to redeem themselves. Luckily for them, the fifth-ranked Tide will have the opportunity to do so. ‘Bama will be starting the day on Saturday in a matchup against a rather lackluster Mississippi St. Bulldogs squad who’ve seemingly been on their hind legs all season.

In the Nick Saban era in Tuscaloosa, Alabama has been absolutely dominant. After losing the first round back in 2007 17-12, the Crimson Tide have won every matchup since. There’ve been only two instances where the Tide’s MOV was ≤ seven points during this ongoing 11-game win streak: 2017 (31-24) and 2014 (25-20). Winning over Mississippi State’s been something Alabama’s done with regularity, as they’ve lost to them just three times in the 21st century (2000, 2006, 2007).

Chances are, that’s likely to continue. Mississippi State is still riding the struggle bus, despite the fact that we last saw them put up 54 points on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Alabama is certainly not Arkansas in just about any shape or form, so I’d suspect that State’s struggling ways will continue on.

Devonta Smith will be one to watch here. Amongst a slew of talent at wideout, Smith stood out big time against LSU, piling up 213 receiving yards with two long touchdowns. Smith has yet to really break out against State in his career, as he’s caught just two passes against them, although one went for a TD in his freshman season back in 2017. Will that breakout come this week? I’d hazard a yes here.
