The SEC named their Player and Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon and the awards will be heading to Knoxville and Tuscaloosa this time around as Tennessee Volunteers guard Robert Hubbs III and Alabama Crimson Tide forward Braxton Key are this week’s recipients.

Hubbs III was an integral piece in helping the Vols go 2-0 this past week with wins over the Kansas State Wildcats and the highly touted Kentucky Wildcats. The Newbern native dropped an average of 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and just 1.5 turnovers in the two games played with 25 in the win over UK. He shot a combined 14-for-24 from the field in the two victories and despite not going to the line against Kansas State, Hubbs III knocked down seven of 10 free throw attempts that he took in the 82-80 win over the ‘Cats.

Elsewhere, Braxton Key kept up his terrific freshman season with two great efforts in ‘Bama’s two victories over the Georgia Bulldogs and Mississippi St. Bulldogs. Key amassed a combined 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in the two wins with 26 points coming in the Tide’s 80-60 win over Georgia. Key shot a combined 11-for-24 in the two victories and was 19-for-27 from the free throw line.
