Turn that frown upside down...it's time for some SEC football!
Let me start this off by saying sorry one last time. We all know the situation last year, and that won't happen ever again. With that being said, who is ready for some College Football down South? Week 1 is going to be a real treat, and I will come out with my predictions for each game next week. But for now, I have my preseason rankings for the year. Remember, these are just my opinion for the year, and honestly, anything could happen this year. Hell, for all we know, Kentucky may win the SEC East this year. That isn't likely, but you get the point...it's going to be a wild year once again in the SEC where anything can happen. On that note, lets dive into these power rankings!
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
It's going to be a hell of a ride for the Tide this year. They open with a tough game against USC, which will let us see a early look at how old Bo is going to do at RB. Should be a fun year for Tide fans.
2. LSU Tigers
Granted, people always put the Tigers near the top the past few years in the Preseason Power Rankings. But every year, the Tigers just don't have the QB to power them to the top. Will that happen this year? I think so.
3. Tennessee Volunteers
I really hammered the Vols last year, but for the reason that they never played to their full potential down the stretch in games. I think they turn that corner this year and finish with 10+ wins. Alabama will be a key game.
4. Florida Gators
Will Del Rio lead the Gators to a more high powered offense this year? That is going to be the big question come this fall. If not, the Gators could be in trouble...a defense can only carry you so far...
5. Ole Miss Rebels
After an off-season of turmoil, Ole Miss is probably ready to play some football. This team is good enough to win the SEC West, but for that to happen, the defense that allowed 37 points to Memphis and 51 to Arkansas last year must be more consistent.
6. Georgia Bulldogs
Can Kirby Smart lead the Bulldogs to 10 wins this year? I don't think so, but this team should be good with Chubb behind Center. The real question is, how will everyone else do? I think Georgia will be just fine this year, but they may struggle at times.
7. Arkansas Razorbacks
Gone is Brandon Allen and Alex Collins. In is little brother Austin and Devwah Whaley. The defense also returns a lot of experience, but was one of the worst in the country against the pass last year. It is up to the defense this year to hold until the offense gells if the Hogs want to compete in the SEC West. Tough start with TCU and Texas A&M.
8. Texas A&M Aggies
I was considering putting the Aggies at 7, but couldn't decide between them and the Hogs. The matchup at Jerry World will determine the better team. Anyway, Trevor Knight is now the new A&M QB after just about everyone else transferred. His play will really determine how this season will unfold for the Aggies. The defense is going to be fun to watch with Myles Garret ready to sack some more fools.
9. Auburn Tigers
It seems like last year when I had these Tigers at #1. Auburn was one of the greatest disappointments in College Football last year, and will have to improve this year if they want to compete. Gus is probably feeling the heat right now...and must get this team back on track if he wants to keep his job.
10. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Dak Prescott is gone. What is left is a QB battle to take his place. Mississippi State does have Dan Mullen at head coach though, and he is a hell of a coach in my opinion. It should be fun to see what these Bulldogs have in store this year.
11. Kentucky Wildcats
The Cats are back again with Stanley Boom Williams ready to lead this team to a bowl. But consecutive 5-7 years have probably been tough for many UK fans to swallow. I think this team is good enough to be 6-6 at least...and finally get over that hump.
12. Vanderbilt Commodores
Vandy is a team I loved to watch last year because I like defense (even though I am a fan of a team that lacked defense last year...Arkansas :(). However, the offense was just atrocious, and kept this team from going to new heights. I am sure the defense will be outstanding again this year...but the offense, I just can't put them higher until that improves.
13. Missouri Tigers
It was a rough year for the Tigers last year. It may be another tough year, but I look at this Tiger team and see the potential for another great defensive year. However, Drew Lock must improve. If he can, this Tiger team will have a much smoother rebuilding year.
14. South Carolina Gamecocks
Will Muschamp will come in and try to guide the Gamecocks to a smooth rebuilding year. The probably won't be the case though. This is a very young them that has a lot of freshman, and it could prove a difficult year for the Gamecocks.
