The Kentucky Wildcats softball team's three-year streak of reaching the Super Regionals has come to an abrupt end as the Wildcats were dismissed by the Utah Utes Sunday afternoon in Lexington, eliminating them from this year's NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats defeated the Butler Bulldogs early on Saturday, but fell to the Utah Utes in an upset in the ensuing encounter. The 'Cats had one more shot at it, and to their credit fought hard in the matchup against Illinois and picked up an extra innings victory to push them to the brink. Despite a vigorous effort to force a winner take all scenario on Sunday, Kentucky's season has come to an end at the hands of the Utes.
The Wildcats finish the year with a record of 46-14 after one of the most productive seasons in recent memory.
