LSU vs. TCU

On Sunday, TCU took advantage of a disjointed effort from LSU to send the Tigers to the losers bracket. Today, they meet again after Vandy sent the Frogs to that bracket two days ago.

LSU used its pair of aces of Jared Poche' and Alex Lange in its first two games, so today Zac Person will get the start. This will be his 32nd appearance but only second start on the year. He pitched three innings against Auburn on April 12th in his other start, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out two. Paul Mainieri pointed out that Person started in junior college before coming to LSU, so this isn't a new thing for him. He has a 3.34 ERA in 29.2 innings of work with 34 strikeouts.

TCU will counter with Mitchell Traver, one of four regular Horned Frog starting pitchers. Today will be his 14th start on the season, and he sports a 1.60 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 73 innings pitched. He also boasts an impressive .179 batting average against, as he's allowed just 45 hits. LSU's offense will have a tough time today, and don't be surprised to see them take a small ball approach given the size of the park and Mitchell's track record.

TCU will be the home team for the game. The winner will have to beat Vanderbilt in two straight games to play in the CWS final against either Florida or Virginia.
