Week 10 SEC Television Schedule

Here are the times and networks for this weekend's action.

Kevin C. Cox

Here it is, folks, it's the big one. It's the one we've all been waiting for. It's been circled on everyone's calendar since the moment it was scheduled.

I, of course, am referring to the showdown between New Mexico State and Auburn. One team is walking out 2-7, the other 1-8. The stakes are high, my friends.

On a serious note, you'll notice that most of the games are stuffed into the noon Eastern time slot. By contract, CBS gets to have a day-night doubleheader once a year, and this week is it. CBS also by contract has exclusive dibs on their time slots, so no other SEC game can go up against them. Therefore once a season, everything else gets pushed earlier so as not to compete with the 3:30 and 8:00 Eastern games.

GAME OF THE WEEK

This game doesn't quite have the shine that last year's edition did, given that there's no shot of a rematch. The fact that the Tide is already a double digit favorite at time of posting doesn't help either. Still, it's Death Valley at night, the place where opponents' dreams go to die according to Les Miles. A Tiger win wouldn't just put them in charge of the SEC West race, but it would also put the conference in an unfamiliar place: on the outside looking in at the national title race.

Florida has to win this game to keep its hopes alive in the East, while Missouri is getting James Franklin back and is plotting to spring a big upset.

This game was once one to see who would get to stay out of the East cellar, but James Franklin has the Commodores solidly in the middle of the division. It would be big news if UK pulled off a win, a fact that tells you how these programs have traded places.

Mississippi State's November gauntlet continues with the Aggies, who have alternately looked great and just OK this season. The winner will likely finish third in the West. I don't know if anyone predicted those kinds of stakes for this one.

After a grueling early SEC slate, the Vols should get their first win since September 22 in this one.

Tulsa is no joke. It's one of the best teams in CUSA, which means its probably better than the best team in the Sun Belt. Which is Louisiana-Monroe. You get where I'm going with this. Look alive, Razorbacks.

Nothing Auburn can do in this game will quiet the speculation about Gene Chizik's job, but there are a host of things it can do to make the complaints grow louder.

To paraphrase the bartender from Anchorman, times are changing. The Rebels can do stuff now. Georgia is going to have to find a way to deal with that or else see their lead in the East slip away just a week after gaining it.
